Springdale is one of several Hamilton County communities where the Board of Elections needs registered Republican voters to work the polls on Nov. 3.

The county needs more than 2,300 poll workers for the general election, according to the Hamilton County Board of Elections. Republican workers are specifically needed in Springdale, Harrison, Springfield, Loveland, Cincinnati and Forest Park, WLWT reported. Democratic poll workers are needed in Harrison and Delhi, and independents are needed in Delhi, Harrison and Anderson.

Pay ranges from $225 to $275 depending on the role. A Precinct Election Official, the base role, earns $225. A Voting Location Deputy handling supplies earns $245, and a Voting Location Manager earns $275.

The compensation covers a required training session, equipment setup and Election Day itself, which runs roughly 5:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Training classes will be held throughout October at the Board of Elections office, 4700 Smith Road in Norwood.

Applicants must be active registered voters in Hamilton County or high school students age 17 or older who reside in Hamilton County. They must be U.S. citizens, comfortable using technology and fluent in English. Convicted felons and candidates on the ballot are not eligible.

"We are recruiting poll workers and we still have openings," Elections Director Sherry Poland said in a report by Local 12 on Sept. 25. "So if anyone has questions about how elections are conducted, come be a part of the team."

The board also runs specialty recruitment programs, including Youth at the Booth for high school students age 17 and older, Second Call to Duty for veterans and CLE with the BOE, which lets attorneys earn continuing legal education credits while working the polls.
