About 23% of Hamilton County's registered voters will find a different congressional race on their ballot Nov. 3. At least one resident says he was never notified.

The change hits all of Sharonville, Springdale, Evendale and Woodlawn. Voters in those communities will cast ballots in Ohio's 8th Congressional District, choosing between Republican incumbent Warren Davidson and Democratic challenger Vanessa Enoch, according to the Hamilton County Board of Elections' official 46-day election notice. WCPO first reported the scope of the shift and the notification gap on Friday, Oct. 2.

New congressional maps the Ohio Redistricting Commission approved unanimously on Oct. 31, 2025, caused the shift. A 2018 constitutional amendment required the state to redraw boundaries ahead of the 2026 elections because earlier maps lacked bipartisan support, Ballotpedia reported. The new districts are being used for the first time in the 2026 election. The representatives elected Nov. 3 will begin serving those districts when the new Congress convenes in January.

Hamilton County Board of Elections Director Sherry Poland told WCPO on Friday, Oct. 2, that the board notified voters about the changes through the mail and on social media.

Not everyone got the message. Jeff Taylor, a Madeira resident, said he learned about his own district switch through Facebook posts and word of mouth. Madeira is another community moved into the 8th District.

"I've talked to more than a dozen of my neighbors and no one has received that," Taylor told WCPO.

Taylor pointed to yard signs in Madeira still promoting 1st District candidates U.S. Rep. Greg Landsman and Republican challenger Eric Conroy. Those candidates will not appear on ballots in the newly drawn 8th District.

Poland said in April that the board mailed a postcard to every registered voter listing their precinct, polling location and congressional district. The 23% figure she cited Oct. 2 covers all Hamilton County voters whose congressional district changed. A smaller subset, about 9%, specifically moved between the 1st and 8th districts.

The deadline to register or update voter registration is Monday, Oct. 5. Early voting opens Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Hamilton County Board of Elections Early Vote Center, 4700 Smith Road in Norwood. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, Oct. 9, according to the Journal-News.

Voters who want to confirm what will appear on their ballot can look up their sample ballot on the Hamilton County Board of Elections website or check their district on the Ohio Secretary of State's website.
