Sharonville police arrested two people after a report of about eight shots were fired from a hotel parking lot toward Interstate 275 early Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Officers responded to the Sonesta Suites on East Kemper Road near Mosteller Road just after 4 a.m., WKRC reported. No victims were found at the scene, but police recovered shell casings from multiple firearms in the parking lot.

Court papers indicate the shots were fired from the lot in the direction of I-275, according to WKRC.

Police said hotel surveillance video led them to Aniyah Clark and Tayshawn Miller. Officers found the firearms and ammunition matching the shell casings, along with the clothing the pair were seen wearing in the video, inside their hotel room, police said.

Clark and Miller are each charged with inducing panic and discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises.

Both charges carry a range of potential penalties under Ohio law. Inducing panic is a first-degree misdemeanor at baseline under Ohio Revised Code Section 2917.31 but can rise to a felony if the offense results in physical harm or economic harm of $1,000 or more. The discharge charge, under Ohio Revised Code Section 2923.162, applies when a firearm is discharged upon or over a public road or highway. That offense starts as a first-degree misdemeanor and escalates to a third-degree felony if it created a substantial risk of physical harm to any person or caused serious property damage.

Public court summaries identify Clark’s firearm charge as 2923.162(A)(3) and Miller’s inducing-panic charge as 2917.31(A)(3).

Investigators have not said whether Clark and Miller were allegedly firing at each other, at a third party or at random, according to WKRC's report. WKRC did not identify an alleged target or motive.
