On the issues

The following positions are drawn from Evans' campaign website responses. They reflect the candidate's own statements.

Domestic violence. Evans said the court's administrative judge has changed how domestic violence cases are handled, with the court now considering a victim's mental distress alongside physical injury. She said judicial officers have built a working relationship with law enforcement to ensure safety during service of process, and the court houses a Legal Help Center. Evans said she believes the new approach "has saved lives" and pledged to collaborate with court leadership to build on that progress.

Trust and compassion. Evans said she has personal childhood experience in the Domestic Relations Court and has built a career advocating for children and healthier families. She said she would work to earn trust, approach cases with compassion and deliver justice swiftly.

Court efficiency and mediation. Evans said litigation is costly, both financially and emotionally. She pointed to the court's mediation department as a way for litigants, especially those without attorneys, to resolve disputes without a trial. Evans said she would work to grow the mediation department and expand its reach as judge.
