Evendale's Finance, Recreation, GHF and Service Council Committee will consider reclassifying the village's Chief Fiscal Officer position from hourly to salaried pay when it meets Sept. 1 at 5:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building.

The CFO role is held by Cynthia Caracci, who also serves on the Hamilton County Tax Incentive Review Council. The committee agenda does not detail the financial impact of the switch or whether it changes benefits.

Two other finance ordinances are also on the docket: a Then and Now ordinance and an additional appropriation for information technology. No dollar figure was given for the IT spending.

Parking ordinance follows resident complaints

The committee will take up a proposed parking ordinance under Other Business. The move follows a July 7 committee session where three residents told officials that parked cars blocked cul-de-sacs during July 4 celebrations and other events, making streets unreachable for emergency vehicles. Susan Spraul, Lillie Schockley and Curt Goodman each addressed the committee that evening.

Evendale has long relied on an informal rule rather than a formal ordinance. In the village's January 2026 newsletter, Mayor Richard Finan described the longstanding arrangement, saying the village has asked residents for years to park on the side of the street opposite fire hydrants so the rest of the road stays clear for emergency equipment. He noted the village has avoided installing permanent No Parking signs.

The specific restrictions in the proposed ordinance have not been published.

75th anniversary celebration nears

The Recreation section of Tuesday's agenda includes an update on Evendale's 75th anniversary celebration, set for Sept. 19. The village, established in 1951, has planned a day featuring inflatables, the Karate Girls band and Rozzi's Famous Fireworks, according to a village announcement.

A historical exhibit opens Sept. 13 at the Cultural Arts Center alongside the 2026 Evendale Juried Photography Exhibition, "Reflections Through Time."

Elevator, sidewalk plaques also on agenda

The Service/Engineering portion includes updates on the Cultural Arts Center elevator project and sidewalk plaques. The elevator has been under construction since at least October 2024. A February 2026 newsletter targeted June 2026 completion, but the project hit delays after the contractor encountered an underground spring. As of the July 7 committee meeting, the elevator was still in progress and the gym was described as "close to being usable."

A farm update under the GHF section is also listed. Ordinances discussed Tuesday would advance to full council for a vote at a future meeting.
