Evendale logged 23% fewer crime reports through the first eight months of 2026 than during the same stretch in 2025, according to the village police department's August statistical report.
Total offense reports stood at 161 year-to-date through Aug. 31, down from 209 at the same point in 2025. The department recorded 21 offense reports in August alone. Through eight months, Evendale has reported zero homicides, zero robberies, zero rapes and zero breaking-and-entering offenses.
Theft remains the largest offense category. Those reports are also declining. Officers logged 92 theft reports through August, down from 134 over the same period in 2025. Assault reports dropped to three from five.
While crime reports fell, arrests moved in the opposite direction. The department made 230 arrests year-to-date, up from 197 through August 2025. Outstanding warrant arrests drove much of that increase, reaching 124 through August compared to 78 through August 2025. Felony arrests, however, fell to 15 from 26.
Chief Tim Holloway submitted the report to the village council. His report did not include commentary on the trend.
Traffic enforcement more than doubles
The sharpest year-over-year change sits in traffic enforcement. Officers issued 392 citations through August, compared to 178 over the same period in 2025. Total traffic charges reached 412, up from 192. Written warnings also climbed to 162 from 67.
DUI arrests more than doubled to 24 year-to-date, up from 10 through August 2025. Driving-under-suspension arrests jumped to 40 from eight.
In August, officers handled 34 traffic accidents: 27 with no injuries and seven with injuries. Year-to-date accident totals dipped slightly, with 222 total crashes through August compared to 236 at the same point in 2025.
August incidents
The department's monthly narrative report detailed several August incidents. Officers investigated a theft of $577 in Walmart merchandise linked to a hit-skip case. At Menards on Cunningham Drive, separate thefts included copper wire valued at $299 and copper pipes and a nailer gun worth $1,214.94.
Three counterfeit $100 bills were passed at Walgreens. Forgery cases tied to GOFO Warehouse at 2881 East Sharon Road totaled $1,974.40 in losses.
A truck driver was cited for disorderly conduct at 10380 Evendale Drive and ordered to appear in Evendale Mayor's Court.
Evendale's full-year offense total was 279 in 2025 and 252 in 2024. At the current pace of 161 through eight months, the village is tracking well below both years. Residents can report suspicious activity or tips to the Evendale Police Department or call 911 for emergencies.
