Luke Kuechly is a Pro Football Hall of Famer.

The Evendale native and 2009 St. Xavier High School graduate was officially inducted Aug. 8 in Canton, Ohio, joining quarterback Drew Brees, wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, kicker Adam Vinatieri and running back Roger Craig in the Hall's 2026 class.

Kuechly becomes only the third Greater Cincinnati high school football product ever enshrined, following Roger Staubach (Purcell High School, inducted 1985) and Cris Carter (Middletown High School, inducted 2013). He made it in his second year of eligibility.

"Football has given me so much more than I could have ever imagined," Kuechly said during his enshrinement speech. "The people I've met, the experiences we've shared and the joy I've found through this game will stay with me for the rest of my life."

The St. Xavier football team, led by head coach Steve Specht, traveled to Canton to witness the ceremony. Specht connected with Kuechly at a special dinner at the Hall of Fame on Aug. 7, the evening before the induction.

St. Xavier athletic director Tim Banker said having current players there to see a fellow Bomber receive football's highest honor was something they would remember for the rest of their lives, according to WCPO.

@FOX19Joe: "The stage is set for Cincinnati's Luke Kuechly to be inducted in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, at the same place he won a state championship at St. Xavier."

Kuechly played linebacker for the Carolina Panthers from 2012 to 2019, earning seven Pro Bowl selections and five All-Pro honors. He helped Carolina reach its second-ever Super Bowl appearance in 2016.

When his Hall of Fame election was announced earlier this year, Kuechly reflected on his roots in Evendale's March 2026 village newsletter: "You look at the game of football and you look at your life. How is my life formed and how did I get to where I am today. That's where it all started was Cincinnati, Ohio and Evendale. Our Lady of Sacred Heart grade school and then obviously St. Xavier High School with Steve Specht as the head coach over there."

As we reported July 29, Kuechly has been named Netflix's No. 1 NFL game analyst for the upcoming season, his next chapter after eight years as a player and now a gold jacket to show for it.

The 2026 NFL season will mark Kuechly's broadcast debut.
