Five people waiting at a Metro bus stop on Springfield Pike were struck by a vehicle Aug. 12, after the driver lost control and jumped the curb along one of Springdale's busiest corridors.

The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. at the corner of Springfield Pike and Northland Boulevard, according to Fox 19, citing Springdale police. All five people were inside an enclosed bus shelter when the vehicle left the road, crossed the sidewalk and hit them.

Springdale Police Sgt. Derek Setters said the victims suffered "serious but non-life-threatening injuries" and were transported to area hospitals, including UC West Chester.

The driver was not hurt. He stayed at the scene. The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is investigating the cause of the crash. No charges or citations had been announced as of the morning of Aug. 12.

Setters did not say what caused the driver to lose control.

Springfield Pike safety context

The intersection sits along State Route 4, a corridor Springdale's own safety planning identifies as a high-crash road. In November 2025, Springdale City Council adopted a Safe Streets for All Action Plan, developed with a federal grant and engineering firm TEC Engineering Inc., that commits the city to eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries on roads including Springfield Pike.

Separately, the city's Northland Boulevard Reconstruction Project, targeted for completion in August 2026, calls for full-depth concrete pavement at bus stop locations and new sidewalk along portions of the corridor. It is unclear whether the bus stop at Springfield Pike and Northland Boulevard falls within that project's limits or had already been upgraded.

No statement from Metro, the regional transit authority, was available Aug. 12, regarding the condition of the shelter or any planned safety review.
