Drivers who use the Interstate 74 and State Route 128 interchange will hit closed ramps on four nights starting Thursday, Oct. 8, as crews pave the interchange ramps for a larger resurfacing project.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 8 announced the closures Wednesday, Oct. 7, in a project bulletin. Each closure runs from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. ODOT's alert named Evendale, Woodlawn, Sharonville and Springdale among the communities affected by the work.

Here is the night-by-night schedule:

  • Thursday, Oct. 8: Ramp from westbound I-74 to SR 128, closed 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Friday.
  • Friday, Oct. 9: Ramp from SR 128 to westbound I-74, closed 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday.
  • Monday, Oct. 12: Ramp from eastbound I-74 to SR 128, closed 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday.
  • Tuesday, Oct. 13: Ramp from SR 128 to eastbound I-74, closed 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday.

No closures are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 10, or Sunday, Oct. 11. Westbound ramps go first, then crews shift to the eastbound side.

ODOT said drivers should use the Harrison Avenue interchange as a detour during closures. The agency did not provide a detailed alternate route beyond that.

Separate from the ramp closures, the broader I-74 resurfacing project also carries single- and double-lane closures on the interstate itself. Those run nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., according to ODOT's Hamilton County traffic advisory page.

The ramp work is part of a $9.58 million I-74 resurfacing project stretching from just west of the SR 128 interchange at Miamitown to the Rybolt Road/Harrison Avenue interchange. Barrett Paving Materials, Inc. holds the contract. Beyond repaving the interstate, the project includes bridge deck sealing, expansion joint repairs and fatigue-crack drilling on structures within the corridor. That work covers the West and New Haven Road bridges over I-74.

ODOT posted the alert on X, noting the closure dates and affected communities.

Paving was scheduled to begin in mid-September. ODOT expects all work to wrap up in early November.
