Police suspect arson in the fire that damaged Twenty-Two Ultra Lounge in Springdale late Sunday, Oct. 4, after an investigating dog indicated the presence of accelerants, according to police.
The finding, reported by WLWT, adds a second open criminal investigation at the Glensprings Drive bar. Less than 24 hours before the fire, a shooting inside the lounge sent one person to the hospital. No arrests have been announced in either case as of Wednesday, Oct. 7.
"Arson is suspected; the fire department brought up the fire marshals and actually had a dog who smelled some accelerants …" Keenan Riordan of the Springdale Police Department told WKRC.
Officials have not said whether the fire and shooting are connected.
The shooting
Springdale police were called to Twenty-Two Ultra Lounge at 340 Glensprings Drive around 12:48 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, to deal with a large crowd outside the bar. Officers were still on scene when they heard gunshots inside, according to Riordan.
One person was taken to the hospital. The victim's condition has not been publicly updated. The shooter has not been identified.
The bar was hosting a local high school's 20-year reunion party at the time, according to WKRC.
The fire
The fire broke out shortly before midnight Sunday at the same building. The bar was closed and no one was inside. No injuries were reported.
At least nine fire departments from Hamilton and Butler counties responded.
History at the property
Riordan told WKRC the property has drawn police attention before, including shootings under previous business names and different ownership.
Springdale City Council processed a liquor permit transfer to 22 Ultra Lounge at 340 Glensprings Drive in February 2026, according to council minutes. The Springdale Police Department did not oppose the transfer at that time.
WKRC reported that its attempts to reach the lounge's owners by phone and social media were not returned.
Both investigations remain open. Residents with information can contact the Springdale Police Department.
