Princeton girls soccer lost 6-1 to Wyoming on Monday, Oct. 12, the Vikings' second blowout defeat this month.

The result, reported by the Journal-News in its scores roundup, dropped Princeton to 3-11-1 overall and 2-6 in the Greater Miami Conference. The Vikings sit seventh in the ten-team league.

Princeton managed one goal in the loss. Published results did not identify the scorer.

The Wyoming defeat followed a rough stretch of GMC play. On Oct. 1, Princeton lost 7-0 to Lakota West, according to the Dayton Daily News. Princeton also lost 5-0 to Lakota East on Oct. 5. The Vikings bounced back with a 5-1 non-conference win over Purcell Marian on Oct. 6, per the Journal-News. That victory was Princeton's first since early September.

The Vikings' two conference wins this season both came in the opening weeks. Princeton beat Colerain 3-2 on Sept. 8 and Middletown 2-0 on Sept. 10, according to MaxPreps. The team went winless in GMC play after that.

Princeton was scheduled to host Hamilton on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

After that, the focus shifts to the postseason. The OHSAA girls soccer tournament draw took place Oct. 11. The OHSAA calendar sets sectional play for Oct. 19 through Oct. 24 and district play for Oct. 26 through Oct. 31. Regional rounds run Nov. 3 through Nov. 8, with state semifinals Nov. 10-11 and state finals Nov. 13-16.

MaxPreps lists a Princeton tournament match against Centerville on Oct. 26. That date falls in the OHSAA district window rather than the sectional window, and the specific bracket pairing has not been confirmed by the OHSAA.

The Vikings enter the tournament having been outscored in conference play all season, but the postseason offers a fresh slate. OHSAA sectional play begins Oct. 19.
