Princeton held the No. 1 spot in the Associated Press Ohio Division I football poll, collecting 12 first-place votes and 137 total points at 7-0.

The Journal-News reported the updated rankings Tuesday, Oct. 6. Behind Princeton, Lakewood St. Edward (6-1) sat second with one first-place vote and 117 points. Gahanna Lincoln (7-0) ranked third with one first-place vote and 102 points, and Perrysburg (7-0) came in fourth with 76 points.

The ranking follows a 47-0 win over Mason on Friday, Oct. 2, the Vikings' first shutout of the season.

Quarterback Key'Sean Torbert delivered one of the best performances of the year in his second start under center. He completed 16-of-20 passes for 258 yards and four touchdowns and added a rushing score, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Torbert was nominated for the Enquirer’s Ohio big-school football player of the week after the performance.

The Mason game also marked the completion of the renovation of Jake Sweeney Automotive Stadium at Pat Mancuso Field. It was the Vikings' first true home game of the 2026 season, WCPO reported.

Five of Princeton's seven wins have come by at least 21 points. Through seven games, the defense has allowed 12.9 points and 195.3 total yards per game, while the offense is averaging 40.9 points per game, according to USA Today.

TriStateFootball.com also ranks Princeton No. 1 in its Blitz 5 regional Top 25, released Sunday, Oct. 4. The Vikings sit atop the OHSAA Division I, Region 4 computer points standings as well.

The path to 7-0 has included tight moments. After the Vikings survived six turnovers to beat then-No. 3 Lakota West 27-24 on Sept. 18, head coach Andre Parker told TriStateFootball.com, "You don't have six turnovers and win a game. You have to be a special team to do that."

Princeton is 6-0 in the Greater Miami Conference heading into its Week 8 trip to Hamilton (1-6, 1-5 GMC) on Friday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. ET.
