Sharonville's Board of Zoning Appeals will hold its monthly hearing Aug. 12, at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at 10900 Reading Road. It will be one of the first meetings led by new Community Development Director Andy Meyer, who took over after John Creech's retirement in June.

The seven-member board is chaired by Daniel Kloppenburg. Recent BZA activity gives a sense of what neighbors might see Wednesday. At the June 10 meeting, the board unanimously tabled a request from Steven Ruben to build an oversized detached garage at 9952 Jane Court after neighbor Dennis Stallo of 9925 McCauly Woods Drive objected to any structure exceeding the 600-square-foot maximum. Board members suggested Ruben revise his plans and add landscaping to screen the garage.

The board also approved trailer storage at 3765 Malaer Drive in January and a reduced front-yard parking setback at 11959 Tramway Drive in April, both with conditions.

Meyer replaced Creech, who announced at the June 10 BZA meeting that he was leaving Sharonville to return to his hometown in North Carolina for a local planning role. As we reported July 22, Meyer was introduced to City Council at a special meeting July 21. City Planner Gabriel Rhoads and Administrative Specialist Kimberly Price also staff the board.
