Three companies won approval to set up shop along Century Boulevard in Springdale, bringing 155 jobs and more than $3.8 million in annual payroll to a stretch of the I-75 corridor that sat largely vacant as recently as 2024.
Springdale City Council unanimously approved job creation and retention agreements for Closets by Design and Shine of Cincinnati on Feb. 4, followed by a zoning change on Feb. 18. The businesses have not yet confirmed an opening date, and city records do not indicate whether operations are underway.
Closets by Design, a custom storage company, and Shine of Cincinnati, a professional pressure-washing firm, will share space at 11550 Century Blvd. Co-owners Brett DeCurtins and LV Semona attended the Feb. 4 council meeting. The two companies will employ a combined 125 people.
"Although the number of jobs may fluctuate here or there, the owners have committed to an annual payroll of over $3.8 million, so I think that's important to share with members," City Administrator Uhl told council on Feb. 4.
Council approved Ordinance No. 07-2026 and Ordinance No. 08-2026 that night, both passing 7-0. On Feb. 18, members approved a zoning change at 11550 Century Blvd. from Office Business District to General Industrial District to accommodate the operations, also 7-0.
Next door at 11500 Century Blvd., Ultimate Toys announced plans to relocate its headquarters and luxury recreation vehicle showroom. The company planned to begin Springdale operations by summer 2026, according to the city's Spring 2026 newsletter. The city has not confirmed whether that timeline held.
The Century Boulevard activity is part of a broader wave. Springdale's Spring 2026 newsletter reported more than $8 million in new investment and over 150 new jobs from the latest round of openings and announcements, according to city-reported figures. That follows more than $86 million in new investment the city tallied in its Fall/Winter 2025 newsletter.
Among the confirmed arrivals: Smoothie King opened at 74 W. Kemper Road, where owners Semion and Helane Androne drew crowds lining up by 6 a.m. on opening day. QuikTrip opened a fuel center at 55 Progress Place. And Slate Springdale, a 306-unit apartment and townhome community by developer Milhaus at 375 W. Crescentville Road, was projected to begin leasing in the second quarter of 2026. The city has not confirmed whether leasing has begun.
Council President Jeffrey Anderson welcomed DeCurtins and Semona at the Feb. 4 meeting: "We hope you have a long and successful career here, both with Shine and also Closets by Design."
