Evendale police have made 24 DUI arrests through July 2026, already exceeding the 16 total DUI arrests logged in all of 2025 and more than doubling the 10 recorded through the same period last year.

The numbers come from the department's July statistical report, released by Police Chief Tim Holloway on August 3. The 140% year-over-year jump in impaired-driving arrests, known as OVI under Ohio law, is paired with a dramatic increase in overall traffic enforcement across the village.

Two more DUI arrests were made in July, bringing the year-to-date total to 24. The surge built through the spring: officers made six DUI arrests in May, the highest single month of 2026, and had already logged 22 through June.

Traffic enforcement doubles

The department issued 67 traffic citations in July, pushing the 2026 year-to-date total to 339. That already exceeds the 261 citations Evendale police wrote in all of 2025, with five months still remaining. Through July 2025, officers had issued just 155 citations.

Written warnings have also climbed: 133 through July 2026 versus 58 in the same period last year.

Driving-under-suspension arrests tell a similar story. Officers made 11 such arrests in July, bringing the year-to-date total to 33, compared to eight through July 2025.

Arrests overall climb 20%

Officers made 30 total arrests in July, bringing the 2026 year-to-date total to 204, up from 170 through July 2025. Outstanding-warrant arrests account for much of the increase, jumping 58% from 67 to 106 year-to-date.

The statistical report does not include narrative explanation for the trends. The department publishes monthly activity reports to the Evendale Village Council; the next data point will cover August 2026.
