A water main break in Evendale has closed Cooper Road and put 538 customers under a boil water advisory. The break, which occurred Sept. 5 near Reading Road, has also forced Princeton City Schools to reroute buses serving the area.

Greater Cincinnati Water Works said on X the rupture caused road damage in addition to the water disruption. The utility said it notified affected customers of the advisory by text.

Roads are closed between Cooper Road and Winnebago Drive and between Winnebago Drive and Reading Road. The Evendale Police Department told Princeton City School District that closures are expected to last through the end of the week, according to a district notice published Sept. 8. That timeline points to Sept. 11, though no official end date has been set.

The boil advisory covers the south end of Evendale. A street-by-street list of affected addresses has not been released. Greater Cincinnati Water Works has not announced when the advisory will be lifted.

As of the utility's Sept. 5 post, the break was being repaired. No public update on the status of repairs has been issued since.

Evendale Elementary stays open

Evendale Elementary remains open on its normal schedule. The school has water pressure and is not under the boil advisory, the district said. The district is asking students to bring a full, clear water bottle to school each day through Sept. 11 as a precaution.

First Student, the district's bus contractor, is adjusting routes around the closures. The district warned families to expect possible delays for buses traveling through the Evendale area but did not specify which routes are affected.

The district said it will share additional information if changes affect school operations, transportation or water service.

Customers under the boil advisory should boil tap water before drinking, cooking or brushing teeth until Greater Cincinnati Water Works issues an all-clear.

Drivers should avoid the closed stretch between Cooper Road and Reading Road and plan alternate routes through Sept. 11.
