Springdale Elementary families can grab free backpacks stuffed with school supplies, food and drinks TAug. 11, when Compass Community Church hosts its annual Back to School Bash outside the school starting at 5 p.m.

The event runs alongside Meet the Teacher night, which goes from 5 to 6 p.m., giving parents a chance to visit classrooms, meet staff and drop off supplies before the first bell rings Aug. 13, for students in grades 1-5. Preschool and kindergarten students start Aug. 17, as outlined in the district's back-to-school message last month.

The 2025 bash, also hosted by Compass Community Church, distributed roughly 350 backpacks with help from the Springdale Police Department, which contributed at least 50, according to Springdale City Council minutes.

Principal Lisa Tenbarge published the school's back-to-school guide on Aug. 7.

Curriculum Night is Aug. 27, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Parents of preschool, kindergarten and grades 1-2 students are invited at 5:30 p.m.; grades 3-5 parents at 6:15 p.m. Before- and after-school care is available through Champions at 800-246-2154, and the program accepts vouchers.
