People Working Cooperatively, a nonprofit that fixes homes for low-income residents, has opened a 70,000-square-foot headquarters in Sharonville.

The facility consolidates offices, a warehouse, truck fleet, tools and training space on 14.2 acres. It replaces what had been a scattered operation spread across multiple buildings. Mary Kay Koehler, PWC's director of major gifts, described the difference to WCPO 9.

"If you needed ramp parts over here or insulation, that was in one building. Tools were somewhere else. Here, everything is in one spot and one warehouse," Koehler said.

The building includes a 20,000-square-foot warehouse, more than 5,000 square feet of workstations, office space and a community room, WKRC reported. Leaders said highway access from the Sharonville site will help crews and supplies reach job sites faster across Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky.

PWC provides home repairs, weatherization and accessibility modifications for homeowners who typically earn about $14,000 a year. That includes veterans, older adults and people with disabilities. Founded in 1975, the organization completes more than 8,000 services annually. It still carries a waiting list.

Austin Wireman, PWC's vice president of operations, told WCPO the demand outpaces capacity even at that volume. He said the building will help the nonprofit grow and reach people more quickly. PWC's longer-term goal is to eventually serve communities beyond its traditional service area.

President Jock Pitts said the consolidated headquarters will improve training, deliveries and coordination among staff and volunteers, according to WKRC.

The facility also received state support. Ohio's biennial capital budget, Senate Bill 450, included $500,000 for PWC's new Sharonville headquarters. State Rep. Karen Brownlee, a Symmes Township Democrat, secured the funding as part of $2.91 million in capital projects for District 28.

PWC's 28th annual Toolbelt Ball fundraiser is scheduled for Oct. 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the Sharonville Convention Center, according to the convention center.
