Princeton's football team is 3-0 and ranked sixth in Ohio as the state posted the third-highest high school sports participation count in the nation for 2025-26.

The Vikings beat Archbishop Moeller 31-24 on Aug. 20, topped Middletown 28-7 on Aug. 28 and routed Colerain 49-6 on Sept. 4. Princeton holds first place in the Greater Miami Conference at 2-0 and is ranked No. 94 nationally by MaxPreps.

Last season's boys basketball squad went 25-3.

The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) released its 2025-26 data on Wednesday, Sept. 9. Ohio recorded 347,994 student-athletes, 189,902 boys and 158,092 girls, trailing only Texas and California, the Dayton Daily News reported. The national total of 8,415,684 participants set an all-time record since tracking began in 1971-72. Football led Ohio boys with 40,302 athletes, while competitive spirit and cheerleading topped the girls side at 26,635.

Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Executive Director Doug Ute said in a statement that the ranking reflects the tradition member schools and coaches have built. He called it a tribute to programs that give students the chance to compete for their schools.

Princeton City Schools announced its 21st Athletic Hall of Fame class on Aug. 17. The inductees include former football standout Paris Johnson Jr. (Class of 2020), the 1989 4x800 meter relay state champions, Bernice Linner (basketball and track, Class of 1982), Jarrell Williams (football, Class of 2004), Coach Jill Phillips and Ed Hartwig for lifetime achievement. The induction ceremony is set for Feb. 12, 2027, at the Delta Hotel in Sharonville, with recognition at the varsity basketball game Feb. 13.

Princeton hosts Sycamore at 7 p.m. Sept. 11, in a Greater Miami Conference game.
