Road closures caused by the Evendale water main break on Cooper Road will stretch through the end of the week, the Evendale Police Department told Princeton City School District.

The district posted an update Sept. 8, warning families to expect school bus delays and asking Evendale Elementary students to bring water bottles as a precaution. The alert went out across multiple school pages, reaching families at Lincoln Heights Elementary, Princeton Community Middle School, Stewart, Woodlawn, Heritage Hill and other buildings.

As we reported earlier this week, the break triggered a boil advisory on Evendale's south side. Evendale Elementary is not under that advisory and has water pressure, according to the district.

Road closures

Two stretches of road remain shut down: Cooper Road to Winnebago Drive, and Winnebago Drive to Reading Road. No specific reopening date has been announced beyond the end of the week.

The district first alerted families to the closures Sept. 7. The Tuesday update extended the expected timeline.

Drivers who use those routes should plan alternate paths through the end of the week.

School bus delays expected

First Student, the district's bus contractor, is rerouting buses around the closed sections. The district said families should prepare for possible delays on routes that pass through the Evendale area.

Evendale Elementary remains open on its normal schedule.

Water bottle request

Although the school is not under a boil advisory, the district asked families to send students with a full, clear water bottle each day this week as a precaution.

A boil advisory was in effect on Evendale's south side as of Sept. 7, but the school was not included.

The district said it will share further updates if conditions change for school operations, transportation or water service.
