Evendale-based GE Aerospace added another cargo engine order to its books Monday, July 20, 2026, announcing at the Farnborough International Airshow in England that National Airlines will buy one GE90-110B and six CF6-80C2 widebody jet engines for its Boeing 777F and 747F freighters.

The deal deepens an existing relationship. National Airlines already operates 30 CF6 engines and eight GE90 engines, according to the GE Aerospace press release, and recently purchased the eight GE90s before placing this latest order.

Mohamed Ali, president and CEO of GE Aerospace Commercial Engines & Services, said the order shows National's confidence in the engine lineup. "These additional engines will help National meet growing cargo demand and demonstrate their continued confidence in these aircraft-engine combinations," Ali said in the announcement.

National Airlines Chairman Chris Alf said the airline built its freighter fleet around GE Aerospace technology because of the engines' reliability and long-term performance in cargo operations. He called the new engines a way to strengthen operational capability and support customers' evolving requirements.

The CF6 engine family has been in service for more than 50 years and powers nearly 70 percent of the world's widebody cargo aircraft, according to GE Aerospace. The GE90 is the exclusive powerplant on all Boeing 777 variants, including the freighter, and holds a world-record certification thrust of 127,900 pounds.

GE Aerospace, which announced a $115 million modernization of its Evendale headquarters earlier in 2026, employs about 30,000 people in the United States.

The National Airlines order was one of several GE Aerospace secured during the Farnborough show's opening week. On July 21, the company announced that AerCap selected GEnx-1B engines for 15 additional Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
