A masked man snatched a woman's purse in the Walmart parking lot on Cunningham Drive in Evendale on Sept. 23. Police have not identified a suspect.

The aggravated robbery is one of two incidents detailed in the Evendale Police Department's September council report. The other: a man called a Reading Road Wendy's late at night, threatened to kill someone, then drove to the restaurant and banged on the drive-thru window.

Walmart parking lot robbery

Officers responded to 2801 Cunningham Drive at 5:22 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, after a witness reported a robbery in the Walmart parking lot. According to the police report, a male wearing a mask forcibly pulled the victim's purse from her person.

The suspect fled on foot and was picked up by a black SUV driven by a woman, the report states. The case remains under investigation.

The robbery was the only one recorded in Evendale through September 2026, according to the department's monthly statistical summary signed by Chief Tim Holloway. By comparison, Evendale logged three robberies through the same period in 2025.

Wendy's menacing incident

Three days earlier, on Sunday, Sept. 20, employees at the Wendy's at 10775 Reading Road told officers a man had called the restaurant around 11 p.m. and said, "Somebody is about to die tonight at the Wendy's, do you work here?" He repeated the threat on a second call.

About five minutes later, the man drove through the closed drive-thru and knocked on the window multiple times. When an employee made contact, he said, "You need to open the window now," according to the report. Employees told him they were closed. He continued to bang on the window before driving off.

Officers arrived but could not locate the vehicle. The only description employees provided was a silver or grey passenger vehicle. That case is also under investigation.

Broader September numbers

Evendale police recorded 23 offense reports in September, including 17 thefts and one assault, according to the statistical summary. The department made 32 arrests during the month, including six for driving under the influence and two felony arrests.
