Evendale police arrested 25 people on outstanding warrants in July alone, driving total arrests to 204 through the first seven months of 2026 even as overall crime reports dropped 23% compared to the same period last year.

The numbers come from the department's July statistical summary, submitted by Police Chief Tim Holloway. The data show arrests climbing on warrant and traffic enforcement even as reported crimes decline.

Warrants and suspended drivers

Outstanding-warrant arrests have surged 58% year-to-date: 106 through July 2026 versus 67 through the same stretch of 2025. In July, warrant arrests accounted for 25 of the month's 30 total arrests.

Driving-under-suspension enforcement tells a similar story. Officers made 11 DUS arrests in July, pushing the year-to-date total to 33. Through July 2025, that figure was 8.

Traffic citations have more than doubled year-over-year, reaching 339 through July compared to 155 at the same point in 2025. Written warnings jumped from 58 to 133.

Crime down, arrests up

Total arrests are up 20% year-to-date while offense reports are down 23%. The department logged 140 crime reports through July, compared to 181 over the same period last year. Theft remains the most-reported category at 81 reports year-to-date, down 29% from 114.

Felony arrests tell a different story. They've dropped 48%, from 25 through July 2025 to 13 this year. Misdemeanor arrests ticked up modestly, from 78 to 85.

The arrest growth is driven almost entirely by warrant enforcement and traffic-related stops, not by a rise in serious crime.

Accidents and DUI

As we reported Aug. 3, DUI arrests through July already stand at 24, surpassing the full-year 2025 total of 16.

On the roads, injury-involved accidents are up 30% year-to-date, from 33 to 43. Non-injury accidents have declined 17%, from 175 to 145. In July, officers responded to 21 non-injury crashes and 7 involving injuries.

The Evendale Police Department had not provided additional comment beyond the statistical summary as of publication.
