Springdale is getting a new artificial turf soccer field, free to use for anyone in the community.

The FC Cincinnati Foundation has partnered with the City of Springdale to install a 100-foot by 45-foot mini pitch at the Springdale Community Center, 11999 Lawnview Ave. The professionally designed turf field will sit behind the outdoor amphitheater on the community center grounds. The city's Summer 2026 newsletter, published July 22, says construction should be completed in late summer to early fall 2026.

The newsletter describes the pitch as an award from the foundation's program. No cost to the city was stated in the announcement.

The installation makes Springdale the latest stop in a regional expansion by FC Cincinnati's charitable arm. The foundation opened its 12th mini pitch on April 23, at Riverside Park in Milford, and announced plans to accelerate the program.

"We're making a legacy commitment here in the region, and you'll see quite a few more pitches coming over the next calendar year," Kate Solomon, FC Cincinnati's chief youth and community officer, said at the April 23 Milford unveiling.

The foundation set an original goal of 10 mini pitches in 2019 and hit that mark in 2023 with the Lunken Playfield opening. Previous locations include Bond Hill, Covington, Madisonville, and Price Hill.

For families in the Princeton school district area, the Springdale pitch adds a free, year-round surface within walking distance of the community center's existing fields and recreation programs. No ribbon-cutting date has been announced.

The city's Recreation Commission, which meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the community center, oversees programming at the site. Residents looking for updates on the project can attend those meetings or watch for announcements on the city's website at springdaleohio.gov.
